Trail Heads: Trail Stewardship Day
“Trail Heads” is a joint effort between Touch of Nature staff, the SIU Department of Health Education and Recreation, the U.S. Forest Service, and forestry students under the direction of Dr. Logan Park. The eventual goal is to shore up Touch of Nature’s trail system, as well as interconnect its trails with nearby Giant City State Park, the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge and the River to River Trail.
The public is invited to help assist with Trail Heads. No experience is necessary. Touch of Nature and its associated volunteers will provide the necessary tools. Staff and volunteers will demonstrate how to use them properly and safely.
The dates for Touch of Nature are Sundays, April 26, and May 3 and 10. The times are 9 a.m. ‘til noon, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers can register for one or both sessions. Call Touch of Nature at 618/453-1121 for more information and to preregister.
